Associate-Quantitative Analyst for Energy and GHG Emissions

Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) provides consulting services for natural resource managers, regulators, attorneys, and other clients involved in public policy development and implementation. Our staff applies expertise in economics, science, engineering, business, computer modeling, and data management to cutting-edge environmental and natural resource policy and management issues. Position: Analyst to support one or more of the following practices: energy market and policy analysis and program evaluation; energy efficiency analysis and clean energy transition; GHG accounting and climate mitigation analysis; embodied carbon/ lifecycle assessment analysis; and/or materials-focused economic analysis.

Responsibilities: IEc Associates design project methodologies, gather and analyze data, develop and apply economic and other types of models, write reports, present findings, and generally assist clients in refining solutions to resource management and policy problems. Associates focused on energy economics and evaluation will help policymakers, NGO, and utility clients evaluate approaches to clean energy development, markets for new technologies, and assess the impacts of energy efficiency programming, among other energy sector analyses. Associates focused on GHG emissions help private and public sector clients via GHG accounting, economic analysis of GHG mitigation options, and lifecycle analysis. Consulting work at IEc requires attention to detail, asking questions, strong communication skills, and organization skills, including the ability to work independently, plan project schedules, and meet deadlines. Associates typically work in project teams, managing the efforts of research analysts and other staff while coordinating with experts in related disciplines.

Required Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD (or international equivalent) in economics, public policy, environmental management, sustainable business, energy engineering, or related fields such as statistics or data science.

• Advanced MS Excel skills.

• Experience with statistical methods.

• Knowledge of energy efficiency and clean energy technologies and markets

• Either economics analysis experience or program evaluation experience, or GHG accounting and lifecycle assessment experience

• Minimum of 1 year of previous relevant work experience.

Compensation and Advancement

• IEc offers competitive salaries ranging from $70,000 to $90,000 commensurate with experience, as well as an annual performance bonus averaging 10% of annual salary.

Position Location: IEc office is located in Cambridge, MA; this position requires presence in the office at least three days a week, with remaining days as an optional hybrid working arrangement.
