Senior Payroll Analyst Culver City, CA (Hybrid) Pay: $70.00 - $80.00 per hour 26-06694 Job Summary The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for supporting accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations within a large, complex organization. This role leads payroll audits, reconciliations, reporting, compliance activities, and process improvement initiatives while partnering with Human Resources, Finance, Tax, Legal, and other business teams. The ideal candidate has strong multi-state payroll expertise, advanced analytical skills, and experience improving payroll systems and processes in a high-volume environment. Job Responsibilities
- Lead payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance reviews to ensure payroll accuracy and adherence to applicable regulations.
- Review payroll data, tax filings, general ledger postings, and timekeeping integrations for accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain expertise in multi-state payroll regulations, wage and hour laws, payroll tax requirements, and labor agreements.
- Support internal and external audits, including SOX compliance and year-end audit activities.
- Analyze payroll data, prepare reports, and provide insights to support business decisions.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, variances, and reconciliation issues.
- Partner with Finance to support payroll accounting, reporting, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Identify opportunities for payroll process improvements, automation, and system enhancements.
- Support payroll system implementations, upgrades, testing, and integrations.
- Assist with payroll application configuration changes and user acceptance testing.
- Develop and maintain payroll procedures, documentation, and best practices.
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Finance, Tax, Legal, and other teams on payroll-related initiatives.
- Provide guidance, technical support, and knowledge sharing to payroll team members.
- Support continuous improvement efforts across payroll operations.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience in a large, multi-state organization.
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax regulations, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance requirements.
- Experience with payroll systems such as Workday, UKG/Kronos, ADP, or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Experience with payroll auditing, compliance reviews, and reconciliation processes.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle confidential payroll and employee information.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
- Experience supporting SOX compliance and audit activities.
- Experience with payroll system implementations, upgrades, or integrations.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting and general ledger processes.
- Experience working in a large corporate or shared services environment.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required.
Work Experience
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including multi-state payroll processing, compliance, audits, reconciliations, and reporting.
