What to Expect
We are seeking a highly driven Materials Manager to own and execute the end-to-end material management process for complex mechanical construction projects. This role is a single-threaded owner (STO)responsible for driving speed, accountability, and precision from material identification through purchase order issuance. You will operate at the center of engineering, project management, and vendor execution, ensuring that critical mechanical systems - including mechanical piping systems, industrial HVAC systems, and plumbing systems - are procured efficiently, competitively, and without delay. This role is not administrative. It is operational,analytical, and execution-focused. You are expected to remove friction,compress timelines, and continuously improve procurement performance.
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership of procurement from material requisition (MR) intake through RFQ, bid leveling, award, and PO issuance
- Execute against aggressive cycle time targets
- Develop and issue complete, high-quality RFQ packages for mechanical systems
- Maintain and actively manage a prequalified vendor pool for ASME B31 piping systems, HVAC equipment and duct systems, Exhaust and air handling systems, Plumbing materials and fixtures
- Perform structured bid leveling to ensure pricing competitiveness, technical compliance, lead times and delivery risk, and commercial terms
- Partner with engineering to validate technical alignment
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and procurement risks
- Generate and issue POs
- Ensure alignment between scope, pricing, specifications, delivery requirements
- Maintain complete documentation, audit readiness, update procurement tracking systems and dashboards
What You'll Bring
- Associate's Degree in a relevant field, such as Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology, or Supply Chain/Logistics; or equivalent experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical construction, procurement, or materials management. OR Equivalent Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in mechanical construction, procurement, or materials management
- Professional Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in procurement and materials management
- Key Skills: Strong analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and build high-performing supplier networks in a fast-paced, commissioning-to-steady-state environment
