What to Expect

Tesla is currently seeking a motivated and accomplished Manufacturing Engineer who will lead the design and implementation of automated material handling systems for the cutting-edge Optimus program and world-class factories at Tesla. Material flow deliversseveralthousands of parts to the right place to produce one intelligent machine: Optimus. The ideal candidate will excel in a demanding, fast-paced environment where they will work as part of a smart, agile, and highly motivated team to accomplish some of the most ambitious projects being attempted in any industry today. This position will be based at Gigafactory Texas, near Austin, TX.

Manufacturing Engineers on the Material Flow Automation team are responsible for developing automated solutions for the efficient and reliable flow of material to Tesla's Optimus manufacturing lines. As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and owning automated material handling projects from cradle to grave. This includes concept development, design, installation, commissioning, ramp-up, handover to the production team, and continuous improvement of automated material handling equipment. Systems may include, but are not limited to, high-speed automated conveyance systems, automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS), automated lifts, and material handling robot cells for Optimus sub-assemblies, batteries, gears, actuators, and more - connecting shops with work-in-progress and raw material parts.

In addition to owning the design and technical scope of a project, Sr. Manufacturing Engineers provide mentorship and guidance to other engineers and stakeholders within Tesla. Project management functions include managing timelines, budgets, and installation crews, as well as coordinating with internal manufacturing teams and external vendors, and collaborating with factory layout, construction, packaging, and production teams within Tesla. As a Sr. Manufacturing Engineer, you will ensure that Material Flow system designs meet Tesla's mission, goals, and objectives. Join us in building the world's most advanced humanoid robot and redefine the future of AI, automation, and manufacturing.

What You'll Do
