The Opportunity

The Chief of Imaging Services is envisioned as the senior enterprise leader accountable for the clinical, operational, financial, and workforce performance of diagnostic imaging services across all sites and modalities. This role is intended to:



  • Provide unified leadership and strategic direction for Diagnostic Imaging services
  • Establish system-wide governance and clear decision rights for strategy, standards, and capital
  • Standardize performance management and reduce unwarranted variation while preserving necessary local customization
  • Strengthen quality, safety, access, and patient experience through common clinical and operational capabilities
  • Align enabling functions (analytics, informatics/PACS, workforce development, vendor/JV management) to support scale


Key Performance Outcomes



  • Improved patient access (time to appointment), reduced bottlenecks, and optimized capacity/utilization across sites and modalities
  • Standardized enterprise performance management (KPIs/dashboards) with reduced unwarranted variation in productivity, quality, and experience
  • Strengthened compliance and accreditation readiness across the imaging footprint
  • A cohesive capital and equipment lifecycle strategy that improves service reliability and aligns investment to volume and clinical need


Essential Functions



  • Imaging Operations: Capacity, throughput, utilization optimization; continuous performance improvement
  • Governance: System-wide committees/operating rhythm; decision rights for strategy, capital, standards
  • Regulatory Compliance: Accreditation, licensure/certification, ordering-provider compliance, imaging-specific monitoring
  • Radiologist Partnerships: Practice alignment, professional services sustainability, performance monitoring
  • Capital & Asset Lifecycle: Equipment strategy/standards, replacement planning, vendor performance/contract leverage
  • Technology Enablement: PACS/VNA modernization, interoperability/image sharing, Epic imaging workflow optimization
  • Analytics: Standardized operational and financial KPIs, dashboards, and decision support
  • Workforce Development: Retention/engagement, pipelines, career pathways, staffing model guidance
  • Patient Access & Scheduling: Centralized/standardized scheduling approaches and workflow standards
  • JV Partnerships: Performance management, partner operating rhythm, growth opportunity evaluation

  • General Radiology / X-ray
  • CT
  • MRI
  • Ultrasound / Sonography
  • Mammography / Breast Imaging
  • Nuclear Medicine & PET
  • Interventional Radiology
  • Imaging Support Functions
  • Imaging Informatics / Systems Governance (PACS/VNA)


Note : Final scope and decision rights will be confirmed through the Clinical Imaging Services design work; non-imaging procedural areas (e.g., endoscopy) would be included only if explicitly assigned to Diagnostic Imaging governance.

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, nursing, radiologic sciences, or related field (or equivalent)
  • Master's degree (MHA, MBA, MPH, MS) or equivalent advanced training (preferred)
  • Experience leading enterprise imaging informatics initiatives (PACS/VNA, image exchange, workflow optimization)
  • Experience with JV partnerships, outsourced imaging arrangements, and professional services alignment (preferred)
  • Lean/Six Sigma or comparable performance improvement training and demonstrated results (preferred)
  • Progressive leadership experience in diagnostic imaging operations across multiple sites/modalities
  • Demonstrated capability in enterprise performance management, change leadership, and standardization
  • Experience with regulatory, accreditation, and compliance requirements for imaging services
  • Proven financial acumen including capital planning, equipment lifecycle, and vendor/contract management
  • Ability to lead in a matrixed environment; effective partnering with physician leadership and cross-functional stakeholders

Posted are the minimum and the maximum wage rates on the wage range for this position. The successful candidate's placement on the wage range for this position will be determined based upon relevant job experience and other applicable factors. These amounts are the base pay range; additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
