General Job Description Position Overview IES Residential, Inc. is seeking an experienced Electric Service Technician / Single Family Lead to perform advanced electrical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair work. This role is responsible for resolving complex electrical issues, supporting field operations, and delivering professional customer service while ensuring compliance with safety standards and electrical codes. Key Responsibilities Service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems and equipment. Diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues in residential, commercial, or operational settings. Review service requests, plans, specifications, and work orders. Communicate with customers about repairs, recommendations, timelines, and service needs. Ensure all work complies with company policies, safety standards, and applicable electrical codes. Maintain accurate service records and customer documentation. Coordinate with employees, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments. Mentor and support less experienced technicians as needed. Monitor tools, materials, equipment, and job-site conditions for safety and efficiency. Minimum Education None Minimum Years of Experience 2-4 Specific Qualifications Qualifications Previous electrical service, maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair experience. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, testing equipment, safety practices, and codes. Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and electrical documentation. Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. High school diploma or GED preferred. Relevant licenses or certifications preferred and required where applicable. Must be able to pass required background and motor vehicle record checks. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Must be able to work on-site and in person; this is not a remote or hybrid position. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull at least 50 pounds. Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, reach, and work throughout the day. Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, including attics, crawlspaces, confined spaces, elevated areas, and active construction sites. Exposure to weather, noise, dust, and typical jobsite conditions. Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment. Ability to drive or travel between job sites as needed. Overtime, modified schedules, or occasional weekend work may be required. Reliable attendance and dependable transportation required.
