Detailed Description:
Perform inspections of incoming raw materials, in-process components, finished products, and first articles to verify conformance to engineering and quality specifications. Utilize precision measuring instruments including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, thread gauges, pin gauges, and optical inspection equipment for dimensional verification. Conduct final inspections of products prior to shipment to ensure compliance with quality requirements. Verify and document the calibration status of measuring equipment used during inspections. Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, GD&T requirements, and internal quality procedures to determine product acceptance criteria. Accurately document inspection results and maintain complete records in accordance with quality system requirements. Ensure traceability of materials, parts, and documentation throughout the inspection process. Issue Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and ensure proper segregation and control of nonconforming products. Perform detailed dimensional and visual inspections with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Review shop travelers and associated documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to product movement. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection area. Work efficiently in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while adapting to changing priorities and production schedules. Participate in all required meetings, training, and development activities. Ability to communicate, including the ability to read, write, and speak English and promptly follow verbal and written directions in English. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
Strong proficiency in visual and dimensional inspection techniques. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T requirements. Knowledge of precision measuring instruments and inspection equipment. Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Ability to work effectively in a dynamic manufacturing environment with changing priorities. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Experience operating lifting equipment such as overhead cranes preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required. Minimum of 2 years of quality control or inspection experience in a manufacturing or machining environment required. Experience performing dimensional and visual inspections using precision measurement tools. Knowledge of API product requirements preferred but not required. Familiarity with quality documentation, inspection procedures, and traceability requirements.
Additional Details: This position operates in a manufacturing environment and requires the ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods while performing inspection activities. The Quality Control Inspector II must possess strong visual acuity and hand dexterity for precision measurement tasks and be capable of safely lifting up to 50 pounds. Employees are required to pass an annual visual acuity test, with or without corrective lenses. The role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
