Summary
This position is a part of our Project Management Team for our various jobsite locations throughout the southeast United States. Engineers provide onsite engineering and technical support, quality control, construction management assistance, land surveys, and help maintain a safe working environment. Dredging or marine construction experience is preferred. Travel is extensive.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Additional duties may be assigned.

  • Hydrographic and Beach/Land surveying for construction management purposes.
  • Technical support for equipment computer systems.
  • Development of project work element plans and JSAs.
  • Coordinate project definable features of work with Manson superintendents, foremen, craft workers, and subcontractors.
  • Critical path scheduling and 3 week look ahead scheduling.
  • Review designs, drawings, and engineering data prepared by Manson consultants and vendors for conformance with project plans and specifications, and identify associated conflicts.
  • Investigation and research for needed permanent and consumable material items, equipment, and tools.
  • Inspection of newly delivered permanent materials for conformance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate project activities with the client's representatives and other project stakeholders.
  • Production monitoring.
  • Monitor of Manson and its subcontractors' operations.
  • Daily operations and quality control reporting.
  • Project photographic records.
  • General project support.
  • Ensures compliance with Manson's Code of Ethics and Standards of Business Conduct.
  • Responsible for practicing safe work standards and promoting an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) work environment as a condition of employment.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing degrees in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or related degree from a four-year nationally accredited college or university.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License, and acceptable driving record
  • Experience with AutoCAD is preferred

The main office is in Jacksonville, FL but interns will be working in various locations throughout the Gulf and East Coast Region. Interns work on 19-9 day rotations (19 days on, 9 days off).

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, for field assignments the employee is frequently exposed to adverse weather conditions, fumes, airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is moderate to loud. Employee must be able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, personal floatation devices, safety glasses, respirators, etc.). The employee is frequently required to use hands and fingers, to grasp, grip, handle, or feel. The employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is required to stand, walk, use stairs, ladders, and step stools and reach with hands and arms. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to navigate stairs, ladders and gangways, board, work on and disembark floating vessels and structures.
