This is an opportunity to shape the user experience for a new suite of AI powered internal tools used by hundreds of employees. As the sole designer embedded within a senior engineering team, you will own the design process across dashboards, workflow automation, CRM systems, reporting tools, and AI agent experiences. Your work will help simplify complex data and workflows while establishing the design foundation for products being built from the ground up.

About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Product Designer to join a small, fast moving team of senior AI engineers. You will serve as the sole designer across multiple internal product surfaces and own the full design lifecycle from research and interaction design through visual design and shipped UI.

This is a remote U.S. contract opportunity, with a preference for candidates who can work within approximately two hours of Central Time. The role is ideal for a self directed designer who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and partnering directly with engineers.

What You'll Do



  • Own the end to end design process across 4 to 6 internal product surfaces.
  • Design intuitive experiences for dashboards, CRM systems, workflow automation, reporting tools, and AI powered products.
  • Create interaction patterns for AI agent supervision, automated triage, intelligent recommendations, and real time reporting.
  • Establish and maintain a lightweight design system and shared component library.
  • Partner directly with senior engineers to rapidly move concepts from prototype to shipped product.
  • Simplify complex, multi source data into clear, single screen experiences.
  • Conduct user research and usability testing with internal stakeholders.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate on new product concepts based on feedback and evolving requirements.


What You'll Bring

Must Have Skills



  • 5 or more years of experience designing complex internal tools, enterprise SaaS products, or developer platforms.
  • Strong interaction design and information architecture skills.
  • A portfolio that demonstrates the ability to simplify complex workflows and data heavy interfaces.
  • Proven ability to operate independently as the sole designer on an engineering focused team.
  • Experience taking products from early concept through final implementation.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills when working directly with technical teams.


Nice to Have Skills



  • Experience designing AI or machine learning powered features.
  • Experience creating interaction patterns for agentic systems or automated workflows.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems or shared component libraries.
  • Familiarity with AI development tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to implement or prototype designs directly using development tools.


Compensation

The target hiring compensation for this role will be shared during the recruiting process.

Compensation is based on several factors including relevant experience, skills, certifications, and location.

Interview Process

The interview process consists of two rounds:



  • Round 1, 60 minutes: Portfolio review and design challenge walkthrough.
  • Round 2, 45 minutes: Team collaboration and working style discussion with one or two engineers.
