It builds on a long-standing and distinguished tradition of scholarly interest in the diverse regions that make up Latin America, including Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. |
| Position Summary |
The Program Assistant for the Institute for the Study of the Americas supports the planning, coordination, and implementation of programs and initiatives that foster engagement, leadership development, and community-building for
UNC Chapel-Hill. This role provides administrative, logistical, and operational support for events, student programs, and grant initiatives while helping to create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. The Program Assistant collaborates closely with campus and community stakeholders to advance the Institute's mission. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
English/Spanish bilingual (or knowledge of other language spoken in Latin America/Caribbean) Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
Adaptability to learning new software
Strong verbal and written communication with effective interpersonal skills |
