At VersAbility, you'll join a mission-driven organization where your work changes lives and contributes to stronger, more inclusive communities. ________________________________________ Role Overview VersAbility Resources is seeking an experienced and collaborative Human Resources Generalist to provide comprehensive Human Resources support for our corporate departments and Community Living operations. This role serves as the primary Human Resources partner for the organization's staffing positions, supporting managers and employees throughout the employee lifecycle. You'll provide guidance on employee relations, onboarding, policy interpretation, compliance, personnel administration, HRIS management, performance management, and day-to-day Human Resources operations while helping ensure consistent, legally compliant employment practices across assigned business units. The ideal candidate is a proactive HR professional who enjoys building relationships, solving employee concerns, supporting managers, and improving HR processes in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment. This position also serves as the Human Resources representative during New Employee Orientation and provides backup Human Resources support to Government Contract operations as needed. ________________________________________ What You'll Do *Serve as the primary Human Resources contact for assigned corporate departments and Community Living operations. *Partners with managers on employee relations, policy interpretation, workplace investigations, and performance management. *Coordinate employee status changes, including hires, transfers, promotions, compensation changes, leaves of absence, and separations. *Serve as the HR representative during New Employee Orientation, completing Form I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification and onboarding compliance activities. *Maintain accurate personnel records, HRIS data, and confidential employee documentation. *Coordinate compliance activities, personnel file audits, training assignments, and required certifications. *Generate HR reports, compliance reports, employee tracking logs, and departmental metrics. *Coordinate unemployment claims, documentation, and agency responses. *Manage employee inquiries through the HR shared mailbox and provide exceptional internal customer service. *Travel to Community Living locations, corporate offices, meetings, investigations, and training as needed. *Provide backup Human Resources support for Government Contract operations. *Perform other duties as assigned. ________________________________________ Qualifications *Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered. *Three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible Human Resources experience, preferably in a Human Resources Generalist, HR Coordinator, or HR Administrator role. *Experience supporting multi-site operations or compliance-driven organizations preferred. *Experience using an HRIS/payroll system, preferably Paychex. *Working knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, employee relations, onboarding, and personnel administration. *Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills. *Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. *Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. *PHR, SHRM-CP, or related Human Resources certification preferred. ________________________________________ Work Environment & Physical Requirements This position operates under a hybrid work schedule based out of Hampton, Virginia. The Human Resources Generalist regularly collaborates with employees, managers, Community Living leadership, corporate departments, Government Contract personnel, and external agencies while supporting multiple business units. The role requires occasional travel to Community Living locations, corporate offices, meetings, investigations, unemployment hearings, training sessions, and other organizational locations. Frequent computer work, virtual meetings, document preparation, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment are essential. Employees must be able to lift or carry office materials weighing up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. ________________________________________ Schedule This is a hybrid, full-time position scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Employees are expected to work onsite Monday through Wednesday and remotely Thursday and Friday from a distraction-free home work environment. Candidates must be flexible to adjust their schedule based on organizational needs.
