Summary: The Membership Marketing Specialist develops and executes data-driven recruitment and retention strategies to enhance member acquisition and retention, engagement, and lifetime value across membership categories. This role leverages analytics, CRM tools, marketing automation platforms, and cross-division collaboration to articulate member value, optimize campaigns, and improve the overall member experience.

This exempt position will report to the Associate Vice President in the Division of Member Services. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $68,500 - $75,000 (commensurate with related experience).

Major Responsibilities:



  • Create strategies and tactics to retain members at every membership level, with a focus on surgeons in the United States and Canada who are eligible for domestic Fellowship. Partner with the acquisition team on campaign strategy to ensure alignment.
  • Build a retention strategy and supporting campaigns using tools such as PropFuel and Marketo; will work within the team, especially with the data analyst, to create dynamic reports and dashboards that show retention KPIs and progress.
  • Apply market intelligence, best practices, and industry research to develop and implement innovative onboarding/engagement and retention strategies to meet the established annual goals. Partner with the acquisition team member on similar new member campaigns to ensure alignment.
  • Identify key audiences and develop personalized, segmented communications, articulate the member value proposition, and ensure all membership materials clearly communicate this message.
  • Work with the team to conduct analysis of all acquisition and retention activities to ensure the College is continually looking at the most efficient and result-oriented approaches to increasing membership.
  • Provide high-quality member support to members using customer service platforms.


Required Education and/or Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Marketing, Communications, or a related field from an accredited college or university is required.
  • At least 3-5+ years of professional experience in marketing analytics, CRM campaign management, or membership marketing is required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Experience with Marketo and PropFuel preferred (Engage Professional Certification is a plus).
  • Experience with Power BI preferred.
  • Fluency with AI tools such as ChatGPT preferred.
  • CRM/AMS experience (i.e., Aptify, Personify, Salesforce, etc.) is highly desirable.
