Job Summary
The Director, Global Freight Services drives the development and execution of Global Freight Services strategies to deliver safe, compliant, and high?performing end?to?end freight operations that elevate the customer and client experience through standardized service delivery, digitally enabled execution, and scalable multi?modal logistics.

Primary Objectives
  • Drive a unified operating model for global freight that improves service quality, milestone reliability, and customer and client experience across sites and trade lanes.
  • Build scalable operating procedures, planning disciplines, and governance controls that strengthen accuracy, predictability, and transparency in complex freight movements, including project cargo, air freight, and over?high and wide operations.
  • Direct technology adoption and data use across TMS and EDI integrations to improve predictability, cycle time, visibility, and decision quality.
  • Develop and lead high?performing management and front-line teams by strengthening leadership capability, fostering accountability, and building a culture centered on safety, service quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead global freight operations across air, ocean, and inland transport networks to deliver a consistent, safe, compliant, and customer?focused service experience.
  • Direct functional leaders and teams responsible for planning, executing, monitoring, and closing out complex end?to?end freight movements, including project cargo and over?high and wide shipments.
  • Establish service delivery standards, operating procedures, and quality controls that strengthen accuracy, predictability, and milestone adherence across freight activities.
  • Use operational analytics, visibility data, and customer insights to identify gaps, reduce exceptions, improve efficiency, and elevate customer and client experience.
  • Oversee integrated case management, issue resolution, and escalation pathways to support timely decisions and protect critical?path activities.
  • Drive technology and digital tool adoption that improves tracking, data integrity, workflow management, and communication across all freight activities.
  • Manage carrier, vendor, and service provider relationships, performance expectations, cost structures, and operational scorecards.
  • Lead regulatory and trade compliance practices covering international and domestic freight requirements, hazardous materials handling, port and terminal rules, and other applicable standards.
  • Collaborate with internal partners across operations, customer experience, sales, finance, and shared services to align freight execution with enterprise goals and customer commitments.
  • Develop frontline and leadership capabilities across freight planning, execution, customer communication, documentation management, and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee budget planning, financial monitoring, and operational investments to support cost effectiveness, service reliability, and organizational growth.
  • Strengthen readiness for complex or high?compliance moves through risk assessments, cargo surveys, equipment planning, and vendor capability evaluations.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, collaboration, safety, and continuous improvement across all freight?related functions.
  • Provide operational expertise in support of commercial activities, including feasibility input for bids, proposals, and contracts, without carrying business development responsibility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience required
  • Master's degree preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Lean or Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Formal training in IATA Dangerous Goods and IMDG awareness preferred
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential preferred
Work Experience
  • 8+ years in global freight operations with depth in project cargo, air freight, and OHW planning and execution required
  • 5+ years senior management experience including budgetary responsibilities required
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Expertise in multi?modal project logistics, heavy lift, and OHW permitting, surveying, and securement practices.
  • Strong knowledge of air and ocean freight operations.
  • Working knowledge of customs processes, trade documentation, and letters of credit.
  • Knowledge of Incoterms and hazardous materials handling fundamentals.
  • Proficiency with TMS, shipment visibility, and EDI integrations; strong data literacy for operational analysis and decision support.
  • Leadership capabilities that include talent development, coaching, and change adoption across matrixed, multi?site teams.
  • Advanced communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead escalations and cross?functional problem solving.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen related to cost drivers, vendor rate structures, demurrage and detention, and claims dynamics.
  • High judgment in risk management, safety standards, and operational tradeoffs.
  • Strong leadership skills with the demonstrated ability to motivate others, resolve conflicts, influence decisions, and lead by example.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and operational systems.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Understanding of military/government contracts and agreements, and required performance metrics strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of military terminology and general documentation requirements strongly preferred.

Starting pay will be determined by job-related factors including experience, education, and business needs and may be modified at any time.

Zone 1: Starting rate $185,000; up to $225,000 for highly qualified candidates
This job is also eligible for participation in an Incentive Plan with a target payout based on eligible compensation and corporate/individual performance goal attainment.
Annual Incentive Opportunity: 20% of eligible compensation
