Job Summary The Corporate Construction Manager is responsible for managing personnel in all areas of construction and operations, maintaining all equipment while estimating costs of maintenance and repair to the equipment. Essential Duties/Responsibilities Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time. * Management of all mechanical construction activities associated with Darling Ingredients or any of its subsidiaries. * Responsible for the scheduling of all mechanical field personnel and dealing with issues that may arise. * Responsible for the selection and procurement of mechanical equipment and supplies necessary for the construction to move forward in a timely manner. * Responsible for the supervision and procurement of sub-contractors hired to help in the construction of processing facilities and buildings. * Direct supervision to corporate electricians, field mechanical coordinator and special projects coordinator. * Assist the Director of Mechanical Installations in arriving at solutions to ongoing problems or situations. * Assist the Director of Operations on issues with efficiencies throughout our processing facilities in order to maintain a high level of operations efficiency. * Work as "hands on" supervisor directly with hourly personnel on issues such as production efficiency or construction completion. * Aid and assist in the layout and design of new equipment or in the upgrade of existing equipment. * Troubleshoot existing equipment when efficiencies fall below standards at Darling facilities. * Involvement in plant level preventative maintenance program in making sure routine maintenance is performed in a proper time frame. * Track progress on construction jobs weekly and develop a list of what has been completed and what is lacking completion for each ongoing job. * Coordinate ongoing and upcoming jobs as to the amount of labor required to complete the job successfully and in a timely manner. * Responsible for on-site job cost relating to construction and installation of capitol investment projects. * Communicate and interface with upper management - VP of Operations, District Managers, General Managers, Plant Managers, and Productions Managers. * Responsible for large scale equipment change-outs which includes all necessary parts, equipment, labor scheduling and coordinating of tasks involved in the completion of the change-out in order to keep any downtime in the allotted time frame. * All other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications * Extensive experience (5-7 years min.) in the implementation and coordination of both high-level construction and process operations. - Prior rendering experience preferred. * Prior supervisory experience a must; construction experience preferred. Preferred Qualifications * Good working knowledge of PLC's and programming. * Good communication and organizational skills. * Excellent work ethic and positive attitude. Physical Demands * Occasionally lift 100 lbs. * Frequently twists, tug, pull and stretch. * Occasional long hours required during change-outs/switch-over. * Constant travel required; flying and driving to the jobsites. * Frequently projects require completion on nights and weekends. * Frequently walk, sit, climb, reach, bend, kneel, crouch, and stoop. Work Environment Job functions will be carried out indoor and outside plant environments and/or in personal vehicle as required. Temperature will fluctuate depending on outside conditions.
