What to Expect Tesla Gigafactory Texas is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Designer to join the Fire Protection team in Austin, TX. The Gigafactory Texas design team strives to create the factory of the future by overseeing the design of cutting-edge large-scale equipment and utility systems in support of highly innovating manufacturing processes. What You'll Do Apply engineering principles to perform hydraulic calculations (HydraCALC) for fire suppression systems, for review and approval by the Fire Protection Engineer Prepare technical design deliverables, stock listings, and installation drawings in support of the engineer's designs Perform in-field design validation and prepare as-built drawings in support of the engineer's review Analyze and apply NFPA 13/13R/13D/14 and applicable building/fire codes to support the engineer's compliance determinations Model fire suppression and life-safety systems using Revit, HydraCAD, HydraCALC, and Navisworks to solve practical design problems for the engineering team Develop standardized technical details and maintain BIM design files in support of the engineering team Work under the direction of and in support of the licensed/degreed Fire Protection Engineer, who holds professional responsibility for the designs What You'll Bring Minimum 4 years of fire sprinkler design experience NICET certification for water-based fire protection systems layout Proficiency in 3D software, such as Auto CAD, Revit, Navisworks, Revizto and Bluebeam Experience with HydraCAD, HydraCALC, or other sprinkler design programs Strong knowledge of NFPA codes and standards, NFPA 13, 13R, 13D, 14 and so on Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or RME-G licensed is preferred, or equivalent experience Compensation and Benefits Benefits Along with competitive pay, as a full-time Tesla employee, you are eligible for the following benefits at day 1 of hire: Medical plans > plan options with $0 payroll deduction Family-building, fertility, adoption and surrogacy benefits Dental (including orthodontic coverage) and vision plans, both have options with a $0 paycheck contribution Company Paid (Health Savings Accounts) HSA Contribution when enrolled in the High-Deductible medical plan with HSA Healthcare and Dependent Care Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) 401(k) with employer match, Employee Stock Purchase Plans, and other financial benefits Company paid Basic Life, AD&D Short-term and long-term disability insurance (90 day waiting period) Employee Assistance Program Sick and Vacation time (Flex time for salary positions, Accrued hours for Hourly positions), and Paid Holidays Back-up childcare and parenting support resources Voluntary benefits to include: critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident insurance, theft & legal services, and pet insurance Weight Loss and Tobacco Cessation Programs Tesla Babies program Commuter benefits Employee discounts and perks program
