The researcher will lead mouse experiments involving measurement of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and/or blood flow in the brain. These experiments will probe how such fluid flow changes under different conditions and/or due to different therapeutic interventions. This work is very impactful, as it likely has implications for how to prevent neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. This is a 50% part-time temporary posted position that will end on August 31, 2027. This is an in-person position that will work on the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities East Bank campus. Visa Language: Please note, this position is not eligible for H-1B or Green Card sponsorship. This position does not offer a STEM OPT training program. Job Duties and Responsibilities of the position Mouse experiments (50%): Under the general guidance of the PI, and in collaboration with other senior members of the lab, the researcher's primary responsibility will be to perform experiments, with assistance from undergraduate research assistants. The researcher may also assist graduate students/postdocs with experiments, as needed. Responsibilities include assisting with animal preparation, surgery, imaging, and other associated procedures. Data analysis (20%): The researcher will generate visualizations of imaging data, perform quantitative measurements using image analysis techniques (primarily in Matlab), and apply statistical analysis. Report preparation (10%): The researcher will prepare slides for presentations in weekly group meetings, figures for publications, and may need to contribute to other documents (annual reports, grant proposals, etc.). Lab management duties (15%): The researcher will survey laboratory stock of surgical supplies and experimental consumables, then order more as needed. The researcher will also assist with experimental scheduling and student advising/mentoring (especially undergraduate researchers). Other duties as assigned (5%) Qualifications
