Job Summary The Temporary Researcher will support an interdisciplinary research project examining last-minute changes and safety incidents in construction. The primary responsibility of this position is to code and analyze qualitative interview transcripts using an established coding framework. The researcher will collaborate with the project team to ensure that coding is accurate, consistent, and suitable for subsequent analysis and dissemination. Who We Are We are an interdisciplinary research team at the University of Colorado Boulder working with construction-safety researchers and industry partners to understand how last-minute workplace changes contribute to safety risks and incidents. Our work integrates psychological research on attention, perception, judgment, and decision-making with construction-safety expertise and analysis of real-world interview and incident data. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be Conduct qualitative coding and analysis of interview data concerning safety-related, last-minute changes and incidents in construction work. Review interview transcripts, apply a structured coding framework, and classify reported changes according to characteristics such as the type of change, associated hazards or risks, detectability, timing, and opportunities for worker response. Maintain accurate coding records, document coding decisions, participate in coder training and calibration, and work with the research team to resolve ambiguous cases and refine the coding framework.
