Job Overview

As a Regional Human Resources Manager at Komatsu, you will partner with leadership teams across our North American Distribution business to support the execution of business and people strategies. As a trusted advisor, you will provide strategic HR guidance in the areas of workforce planning, talent management, organizational effectiveness, employee relations, and leadership development while leading and developing an HR Generalist.



This is a high-impact role with visibility across the organization and offers an opportunity to influence business outcomes, strengthen leadership capability, and support the development of a high-performing, engaged workforce. The ideal candidate is a collaborative relationship builder, strategic thinker, and results-oriented leader who continuously seeks opportunities to improve processes, enhance employee experiences, and drive organizational success. This individual will challenge the status quo, leverage market insights and HR best practices, and recommend impactful solutions that support Komatsu's business objectives and people culture.

Key Job Responsibilities
Strategic Planning

  • Partner with leadership teams to develop people strategies that support business objectives, workforce planning, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Provide HR guidance aligned with long-term business goals.


Leadership Coaching

  • Coach leaders to strengthen leadership effectiveness, employee engagement, performance management, and organizational capability.
  • Support development of key leadership competencies.


Employee Relations

  • Partner with leaders and HR colleagues to resolve employee relations matters while balancing employee experience, business needs, and compliance.
  • Promote fair, consistent, and effective workplace practices.


Talent Strategy & Development

  • Support organizational design, workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development initiatives.
  • Assess workforce trends and recommend strategies to address current and future talent needs.
  • Facilitate talent reviews and development planning to strengthen organizational capability.


Talent Acquisition

  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and HR Centers of Excellence on recruiting and workforce planning initiatives.
  • Build talent pipelines through relationships with educational institutions, industry organizations, and local communities.


HR Programs & Change Management

  • Collaborate with Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Talent, HR Operations, and HRIS teams to implement HR programs and initiatives.
  • Drive adoption of people programs that enhance engagement, performance, and business results.
  • Support organizational change and continuous improvement efforts.


Employment Law & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies.
  • Provide guidance on employment practices, labor relations, compensation, immigration, health and safety, and risk mitigation.


HR Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop an HR Generalist while fostering a high-performing, customer-focused HR team.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and a collaborative partner across the HR organization.
  • Model Komatsu values and promote employee engagement, continuous improvement, and exceptional HR service.


Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7-10 years of progressive Human Resources experience
  • Experience serving as a strategic HR Business Partner and trusted advisor to leadership teams.
  • Prior experience leading, mentoring, coaching, or developing HR professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions, build credibility, and drive organizational outcomes within a complex business environment.
  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
  • Prior experience in a heavy equipment, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or related business environment preferred.
  • Experience supporting a skilled trades workforce and developing workforce planning and talent acquisition strategies is a strong asset.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, influencing, and motivating within a complex matrix organization.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects and implementing HR initiatives with broad organizational impact.
  • Advanced communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Proven ability to build trust, coach leaders, and influence outcomes at all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success resolving complex employee relations matters and organizational challenges.
  • High level of comfort navigating ambiguity while balancing strategic and operational priorities.
  • Strong HRIS and Microsoft Office skills, including SuccessFactors, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Labor relations and union experience is considered an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 15%.
