Job Summary Operate the Network Operations Center of a modern data storage facility, in a 24/7/365 environment, by administering: security, network monitoring and incident resolution functions and procedures. Participate in the development of new processes, procedures, and initiatives.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Sign on, monitor and input controls into the following systems: - Fire Alarm System - Facility access control and security system - On-site weather station - CCTV camera system and the computerized digital video recording system
- Maintain a daily database log of visitors and activities within the facility
- Maintain and update the design and input of the inventory control database system
- Interact with the lessor regarding any Lease Agreement items
- Interact and oversee vendors and service providers for the Data Storage facility
- Direct other workers to respond accordingly based on received alarms, alerts, or other input.
- Interact with clients regarding inquiries, concerns, or status updates of their particular data information
- Work as a member of a team that will be responsible for 99.99% system uptime with zero defects.
- Respond to audible and visual alarms by taking ownership, creating trouble tickets, troubleshooting and resolving alarms, or escalating accordingly.
- Proactively identify issues, creating tickets to ensure that all details are captured accurately, follow escalation procedures as documented, use the notification system in order to effectively communicate issues to other support teams and upper management, and trouble-shoot the events in a short time frame.
- Create procedures if they do not exist, update procedures, creating training presentations to peers, and administer the training session so that others can learn.
- Ability to physically set up a 'warm site' temporary office working space for contracted customers upon notification or direction.
- Ability to physically disassemble a 'warm site' temporary office working space and re-shelve/store it for future use.
- Ability to be the primary operator in the Network Operations Center for the data storage company.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Miscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 or more years of experience in General office maintenance equipment, security and computer expertise
- User familiarization in MS Office Suite programs
- General familiarization in Data Base functions and usage
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 3 or more years of experience in General office maintenance equipment, security and computer expertise
- Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite programs
- User skills in Database operations
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Information Technology (IT) operations: logging on to various password and encryption protected computers, working with multiple monitor feeds to a single computer, and troubleshoot and correct minor (IT) problems.
- Ability to physically set up multiple computer and phone temporary work stations for client warm sites, to include setting up wall and/or sound dividers.
- Experience as a watch stander in an Operations Center
Knowledge and Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
- Ability to write log entries, memos, notices, and reports in English with proper grammar and spelling
- Ability to interact with computerized security systems, alarms, and cameras
- Ability to use MS Word and MS Excel.

Job Requirements
- Work in confined spaces at times
- Different shifts as assigned in a 24 hour/7 days a week operation (including working weekends and holidays)
- Hours which include rotating on-call responsibilities which may be outside standard hours
- Wear protective equipment (appropriate to the task or environment at hand: such as eye protection, protective footwear, hard hat, hearing protection, etc.)
- Work hours may vary in length and schedule (may include a non-standard work week)
