DESCRIPTION
UC San Diego Health is proud to be a four-time Magnet-designated organization and has now earned Magnet with Distinction from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Magnet is the gold standard for nursing excellence, achieved by only about 10% of hospitals worldwide. Magnet with Distinction is awarded to the highest-performing Magnet organizations, with only a select few earning this prestigious honor. This recognition reflects our commitment to transformational leadership, professional nursing excellence, innovation, exceptional patient outcomes, and an empowering practice environment where nurses thrive. Under general supervision of a registered nurse in the assigned department, the Senior Vocational Nurse PD performs on a regular basis the full range of patient care activities in support of patient care. This includes, but not limited to, prioritizing and assisting in patient triage processing, preparation and assistance with patient examinations, administering medications, drawing blood, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, assisting with training and validation of competencies of LVN and other patient care support as required, assigned to more complex tasks, and providing patient education and staff training. Position requires initiative, ability to prioritize critical demands, ability to work in a team environment and ability to exercise independent judgment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
