Qualifications



  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Ability to pass a background check (Criminal History & Sex Offender Registry)
  • Skill in general maintenance and property upkeep
  • Janitorial or maintenance experience preferred
  • Valid Drivers License

  • Ability to follow janitorial practices, sanitation procedures, and written instructions

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for long periods


Scope of Position

This position supports the Corps Officers and the ministries of The Salvation Army Albany Corps by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming facility for worship, programs, food distribution, and community services.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Corps Property Cleaning & Maintenance

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the Albany Corps building, including:

Restrooms



  • Clean and sanitize toilets, sinks, counters, mirrors


  • Restock supplies
  • Empty trash


General Facility Cleaning



  • Empty trash cans throughout the building
  • Sweep and mop hard floors (lobby, fellowship hall, kitchen)
  • Vacuum carpeted areas (chapel, offices, back room)
  • Maintain kitchen cleanliness (counters, sinks, light appliance cleaning)
  • Maintain chapel cleanliness (chairs, platform area)
  • Assist in maintaining the pantry


Program & Event Support



  • Set up tables, chairs, and equipment for programs, meetings, and events
  • Reset rooms after use


Exterior Grounds Maintenance



  • Sweep walkways
  • Pick up trash
  • Blow leaves
  • Light pruning as needed
  • Maintain entryways and sidewalks


Light Maintenance Duties



  • Light repairs
  • Report hazards or needed repairs
  • Maintain custodial supply inventory and request replacements


Other Duties as needed within the scope of the department.

May include:



  • Assisting with deliveries
  • Storage organization
  • Furniture cleaning
  • Clothing or product handling for ministry needs
  • Supporting special events or seasonal programs


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion tasks


Working Conditions



  • This is a steady workplace that can include interruptions and shifting direction.
  • Indoor and outdoor work in all weather conditions
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE required)
