Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Application Developer II in the Department of Enterprise Applications and Research Computing (
EARC)/ Enterprise Student Services and Systems Integration within Office of Information Technology (
OIT).
The Application Developer II, reporting to the Director of IT for Enterprise Student Services and Systems Integration, designs and implements integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, such as
AWS, Heroku, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (
IICS), Oracle Integration Cloud (
OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. The position provides ongoing maintenance and support of mission-critical integrations for Oracle Student Financial Planning (
OSFP) and other enterprise projects. Additional tasks related to the ongoing documentation, maintenance, and improvement of supported web-based applications will also be performed. This position is also a key contributor to the ongoing EARC's evolution and development of cloud computing strategies, roadmaps, and plans.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Designs and implements data integration processes between various Rutgers systems and services using enterprise cloud-based services, such as AWS, Heroku, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology.
- Provides ongoing maintenance and support of mission-critical integrations for the Oracle Student Financial Planning (OSFP) and other enterprise projects. Defines configuration and extension standards, specifies technical approaches and implementations for conversions, interfaces, and reports. Maintain and improve supported web-based applications and integration processes and communicate with vendor support teams, as necessary.
- Troubleshoots problems, works with staff to resolve problems; works closely with functional users to understand and resolve open issues. Participates in change management and release management activities. Identifies and reports risks, issues, and dependencies on assigned tasks/projects. Participates in test planning, perform testing activities as needed (including unit, integration, performance, and user acceptance testing), and apply performance optimizations.
- Suggests technology solutions to business challenges under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Director of IT. Consults with management and business areas as required to clarify requirements for proposed development projects, system enhancements, and maintenance; identifies and suggests solutions to problems. Identifies customer needs and take action to meet those needs. Continually searches for ways to increase customer satisfaction.
- Writes and updates requirements, design, and user guide documentation to describe systems and access abilities, as required to ensure all code changes and updates are properly documented according to the university's standards. Develop scopes, deliverables, and schedules for assigned projects. Provides technical guidance to lower-level staff employees and/or temporary and/or student employees.

| Minimum Education and Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, plus five (5) years of relevant work experience is required.
- Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the degree requirement.

- Solid understanding of data migration and integration principles, with hands-on experience performing data conversions and integrations between legacy and cloud-based systems.

- Ability to prioritize, schedule, and complete development, configuration, and testing activities for multiple concurrent projects with overlapping deadlines.
- Proven ability to manage tasks, translate business requirements into technical action items, and deliver project objectives.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages such as Python and Java; web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, REST, AJAX, and JSON; and relational database management systems such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, and MariaDB.
- Demonstrable knowledge of distributed systems architecture, messaging technologies, and REST protocols.
- Good understanding of accessibility standards and the implementation of accessible solutions.
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining technical documentation, including technical specifications, and collaborating with business users to gather and document requirements for configuration, extension, and application development requests.

- Experience building integrations using REST and SOAP services.
- Experience with the Django framework or other Python-based web development frameworks.
- Experience working with JavaScript frameworks and libraries such as React, jQuery, and Node.js. Familiarity with cloud and integration technologies including AWS, Heroku, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services (IICS), Oracle Integration Cloud (OIC), and Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.
- Knowledge of version control and development collaboration tools, including Git, GitLab, Jira, and Confluence.
