We are seeking an experienced Master Automotive Technician specializing in internal combustion engines to join a family-oriented automotive business focused on Porsche and high-performance sports cars. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled technician who takes pride in precision workmanship, complex mechanical diagnostics, and engine rebuilding.

Unlike a traditional dealership environment, this role offers a collaborative workplace, a strong commitment to work-life balance, and the opportunity to focus on specialized automotive work. The ideal candidate is passionate about performance vehicles, enjoys solving challenging mechanical problems, and takes pride in delivering exceptional results and customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, and overhaul internal combustion engines in Porsche and other performance-oriented sports cars.
  • Perform advanced engine diagnostics using computerized scan tools, engine analyzers, oscilloscopes, and precision measuring equipment.
  • Disassemble, inspect, rebuild, and reassemble engine components, including cylinder heads, crankshafts, camshafts, pistons, bearings, and valvetrain assemblies.
  • Diagnose and repair fuel injection, ignition, cooling, lubrication, turbocharging, and emissions systems.
  • Perform compression and leak-down testing, precision measurements, engine tuning, and post-repair performance verification.
  • Diagnose, repair, and rebuild transmissions and gearboxes. Experience with complex gearbox and transmission rebuilding is a significant plus.
  • Interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, manufacturer specifications, and service documentation to ensure accurate, high-quality repairs.
  • Conduct road tests and quality inspections to verify vehicle performance, reliability, and proper operation.
  • Communicate repair findings, recommendations, and maintenance needs clearly and professionally to customers.
  • Maintain accurate service records, follow established safety procedures, and keep the work area organized.
  • Collaborate with team members, share technical knowledge, and support continuous improvement in shop procedures and diagnostic practices.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional automotive repair experience, with substantial hands-on experience diagnosing and rebuilding internal combustion engines.
  • Strong knowledge of gasoline engine operation, mechanical tolerances, engine performance, and advanced diagnostic procedures.
  • Experience working with Porsche, European performance vehicles, sports cars, or other high-performance automotive platforms is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated engine rebuilding and overhaul experience is highly desirable.
  • Gearbox and transmission rebuilding experience is a significant advantage.
  • ASE Master Automobile Technician certification is preferred; relevant ASE engine repair and engine performance certifications are highly desirable.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics.
  • Proficiency with professional diagnostic tools, precision measuring instruments, and specialized automotive equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to high-quality workmanship.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical findings and repair recommendations clearly.
  • High school diploma or GED required; formal automotive technology training or equivalent apprenticeship experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and a commitment to maintaining a safe, professional work environment.

Compensation, Schedule & Benefits

  • Competitive compensation: $100,000+ annually, based on experience and qualifications.
  • Four-day workweeks every other week: Enjoy every other Friday off, with 10-hour shifts during four-day workweeks.
  • Up to five weeks of PTO: Generous paid time off to support work-life balance.
  • Relocation assistance: Support available for qualified candidates moving for the position.
  • Paid working interviews: Candidates will be compensated for working interviews, with necessary interview-related travel expenses covered.
