Full-time Faculty Positions

Full-time faculty positions will be posted on a per-opening basis. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Applicants will be evaluated at the college/school level for the position which they are submitting an application. Unless noted by a close date, positions will remain open until they are filled. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.

Part-time Faculty Positions

DePaul University invites expressions of interest for a pool of qualified Part Time Faculty to teach courses in a variety of disciplines across all 10 colleges and schools. Individuals may enter expressions of interest by submitting their credentials to any posting for which they are qualified to teach. Postings are organized by college/school and department. Screening of individuals in the pool is ongoing, depending on curricular need and funding. Individuals will be contacted by the department if they reach the finalist stage for teaching a particular course or set of courses. The pool will remain in place until the closing date specified in the posting details; those interested in remaining in the pool beyond that time must resubmit. All individuals in the pool will be notified by email when the posting is closed.

Responsibilities:

The University Supervisor is a liaison between the student teaching placement school and the university. The University Supervisor works closely with the cooperating teacher and the principal to ensure a positive student teaching experience for our student teachers.

To ensure the highest quality experience, in addition to holding a current Illinois State Board of Education Professional Educator License and endorsements in the program area in which they are providing supervision, the University Supervisor must:



  • Mentor, support and supervise student teacher(s) throughout the experience
  • Support and counsel the cooperating teacher(s)
  • Facilitate on-site concerns/issues throughout the experience
  • Introduce himself/herself to the principal on the first visit to the school
  • Communicate with the cooperating teacher during each visit
  • Attend the Student Teaching Orientation at the beginning of the Student Teaching Quarter
  • Perform as facilitator for the student teacher, be available throughout the quarter for consult
  • Maintain a working e-mail address in order to communicate with the Office of Field Experiences & Student Teaching
  • Spend at least one hour observing the student teacher during each visit
  • Complete and e-mail all required material and documentation to kiwashim@depaul.edu at the end of the Student Teaching Quarter.

Number of visits and observation feedback

The University Supervisor will observe the student teacher teach a minimum of four times during the Student Teaching Quarter. The University Supervisor should conduct a telephone or on-site conference with the student teacher and cooperating teacher after each visit. A written report of the observations is also required after each observation. A copy of observation feedback should be e-mailed to the student teacher, the cooperating teacher, and kiwashim@depaul.edu . Written comments on the observation/visitation form should include positive commentary as well as suggestions for improvement.

Documentation

The University Supervisor must keep detailed documentation of the happenings in the classroom. This is critical if at any point the University Supervisor believes a student teacher is experiencing difficulty. Thorough documentation and complete records will help in making a decision regarding the student teacher and the placement.

Documentation is extremely important. Documentation should include a comprehensive report that indicates when and how the student teacher was notified of the concern and given an opportunity to improve.

Required Qualifications:

University Supervisors must have:



  • Master's Degree in Education
  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License
  • Taught full-time in his/her own classroom for at least 10 years

Considerations:
Exceptions to standard rates may apply to courses with unique credit hours, supervision, labs, clinical/practicum courses, coaching, administrative tasks, and courses that are either over-enroled or under-enrolled.

About DePaul University's Academic Calendar:
Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).

Salary Information: The anticipated hiring rate of this position is $730 per student, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
