Reports to: SBA Manager

Location: Any Minnwest location, St. Cloud preferred

Position Summary/Purpose:

Minnwest is seeking an individual for a full-time SBA Specialist position at our St. Cloud location. Other branch locations will be considered. Assist SBA Department and Loan Officers in the fulfillment of the department's responsibilities. Perform various administrative functions necessary to meet goals and maintain good standing with SBA regulators. Specific duties may vary slightly depending on SBA department business needs.

Your team will support the entire bank and you will frequently work with commercial bankers and customers in other locations. As such, effective communication and collaboration skills are required. This includes professional phone etiquette, good grammar and writing skills, and the effective use of remote collaboration tools (like screen sharing, video conferencing, and chat) to quickly solve issues and enable a great customer experience.

Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field
  • Experience in SBA origination, processing, post-closing, servicing, and liquidation
  • Experience with LaserPro or Sageworks
  • NAGGL certification
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Capability to coordinate multiple and changing tasks/priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures from within the SBA department
  • Advanced knowledge of loan documentation, systems, and financial statement requirements for SBA loans
  • Advanced knowledge of SBA SOP and a good understanding of legislation and regulatory environment of the banking industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills enabling interaction with all levels of employees and customers.
  • Ability to think strategically and foster high ethical standards in executing on the bank's purpose, mission, values, and goals.
  • Ability to recognize and act on problems
  • Ability to understand and gather customer needs to inform recommendations
  • Ability to gain trust of internal and external stakeholders and a sense of urgency to meet customer needs



Working conditions: Work indoors in a standard office environment. Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs. May involve traveling for training or meetings.
