Perform risk management functions to ensure that the institution remains safe for its patients, families and employees in accordance with OHFLAC, JCAHO, CMS, and other regulatory requirements. Identify, collect, organize, analyze, and report data as well as provide solutions or recommendations that will result in development of safe practices and positive outcomes. Assist in maintaining readiness programs for the Joint Commission and other regulatory agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Current Licensure as Registered Nurse in state of WV EXPERIENCE: 1. 5 years' experience as a Registered Nurse in an acute care setting PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing EXPERIENCE: 1. Prior experience working in Regulatory, Compliance or Safety in a health care environment. Assists with Root Cause Analysis within the time requirements set forth by Joint Commission in collaboration with the Patient Safety Manager, Chief Quality Officer and Risk Manager. 2. Assists with the development and completion of organizational Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA). 3. Facilitates projects for compliance with the Joint Commission National Patient Safety Goals. 4. Assists manager with the Medical Safety Committee Activities. 5. Participates in facility survey and inspections by regulatory agencies as directed. 6. Assists with Peer Review Process Functions as directed. 7. Assures satisfactory compliance with Joint Commission standards and regulations of other regulatory agencies. 8. Develops and submits reports for appropriate individuals and committees within the organization. 9. Interacts with faculty and staff to present quality initiative updates, reports, and education. 10. Participates in Culture of Safety programs. Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and feeling are necessary body movements utilized in performing nursing duties throughout the work shift. 2. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. 3. Hearing within normal range is required (i.e.: to assess breath sounds, bowel sounds, apical pulse, monitors, etc.). 4. Visual acuity must be within normal range. 5. Exposure to electrical current SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. Able to read and write legibly in English. 2. Skilled in computer usage (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) 3. Able to handle and maintain confidential information. 4. Able to perform concentrated and complex mental activity with frequent involvement in complex situations. 5. Able to work successfully under high stress conditions and must be capable of adapting to varying workloads and work assignments on a constant basis. 6. Able to make sound, independent judgments based on scientific and regulatory principles, and be able to collaborate successfully with multi-disciplinary team members in an appropriate manner. 7. Strong verbal and written communication skills including effective medical terminology communication skills. 8. Able to comprehend and perform oral and written instructions and procedures 9. Skilled in math, statistics, data collection, data analysis, etc 10. Able to organize, prioritize and complete assigned tasks. 11. Able to work extended hours 12. Knowledge of regulatory rules/standards within the acute care setting (i.e. CMS, Joint Commission, etc). 13. Able to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret projects. 14. Able to work independently and manage stressful situations effectively.
